Summer Projects

Hey People! Welcome back!

A few days ago someone suggested to me that I start pulling together some ideas for what to do this summer. And today while researching Rock-Paper-Scissors-Lizard-Spock I came across a world record holder who invented a new rock paper scissors. A rock paper scissors that will create a revolution for those who are tired of a tie. Even in Rock-Paper-Scissors-Lizard-Spock everyone always does Spock. But in this game there is only a 0.99% chance of a tie. This game has 5,050 combinations and 101 hand gestures. Bring it on - the 101RPS!
So what does this have to do with my summer vacation? Well I am going to learn it.  And for those who want a challenge, but don't want to fry their brain, there is also a RPS25. I'm not saying that one is easy, no, it would still be super hard. But note quite as super hard as RPS101.

I am also planning to decorate my new IKEA bookcase

http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/images/products/billy-bookcase__80158_PE194633_S4.jpg
I take a lot of pride in the fact that I have a very IKEA-esque bedroom. My bed, white IKEA bunk bed with only the top part. My desk, underneath the bed is also white and looks a lot like my bed. And so does my bookcase. And so does my wardrobe. The only piece of furniture in my room that isn't white is my pink chair, but you can't see it properly anyway because I have a cool pillowcase covering it. I'll probably decorate the front with some awesome Paperchase  tapes. I might also wallpaper the back with block colors.

Another thing I'm wanting to do is make a marshmallow shooter. It's pretty much a gun made from pipes (I'm making mine from sturdy cardboard tubes. :) ) and you shoot by blowing sharply on the mouthpiece. Apparently they can go 40 feet into the air!

If you are looking for some summer projects to do, these are some good sites to check out:
Makezine
Craftzine
Paper craft stuff
Or you can learn some music, try to find the best ever cookie recipe to use for Christmas, grow some strawberries. The world's your oyster, so have fun! :D

Bye bye, Scotland

Well, this is it. A week from now I will be moving away down to England. Sudden? Yes it is, even to me.
I had just spent about two weeks in  Edinburgh, the capital and my favorite city, which I've been to a lot over the last 8 years. I took a crud load of pictures and here are some of them.

That's me! :)

Yes - a Nyssa tree! Named after moi, of course. But it was a wimpy little plant...

That is just a few, but I'll post more at some point.

I love Scotland. It is a great place, to live and to explore. People who aren't willing to go down all the random twisty little roads to castles can stay in Edinburgh. Even the people who are! There is a huge amount to see there, and off the beaten track.  And the people are really nice! No matter where you go, there is always someone who just wants you to have a good time. And it is beautiful. A paradise land for photographers and artists.
In August there is the worlds largest arts festival in Edinburgh. In 2011 there were over 2,500 shows from 60 countries. That alone makes it worth going!

I'm glad I came here.

Picture editing tutorial

Hello! I've came back for now to bring you a photo editing post. To start off, you need to download Gimp (don't worry, it's free!)

Here are some images I found on a website that I edited.
This is the image I saved:
These are some after I played around with it.

Now I can teach you to easily do lots of fun stuff with gimp.
1. Download an image. For this I've used this image (don't worry, it's public domain):

To change the colour of the whole thing like in my second picture, you click on the colour bar,  and select the 'Colourise' option. Then you mess around with the bars and that changes the colour! The first changes the colour, the second the strength of the colour and the third its lightness.....you'll understand better when you try it. :3

Make it look old and worn:  First select the filter bar and go down to decor.  This is the one you will be choosing from every time for this one. To start select 'old photo' and carry it out on default. Then you go on fuzzy border. After that you pick the coffee stain one and reduce the stains to 1. Click OK, and see the result of your masterpiece!

This one is really fun: all you do is select 'Filter' and go on Edge-Detect and select Neon. Then you can mess around with the settings and select OK! :)

That's all for now but don't be afraid to upload your creations in the comments or email me! :) You can also do a lot with the filter section, s mess around with it! See what you can do and show me. :3

wiki, wiki, wiki

Have you ever noticed how many wikis are out there?

There's a Pixar wiki, a lyrics wiki (it is SO useful for finding songs that you only know the lyrics to!)

Here are some wikis that I am into

Marvel Wiki

Bacon wiki

Disney wiki

Coffee wiki

P.S. Just to say, I'm going to take a break from blogging for a while. I'll see you all when I come back!

Bye!

The funnest song to play on the piano ever!

This song's called Tarantella and it's one of my 1st grade exam pieces. I got home from school today having been told to learn it and I went on it, played a few times and somehow and hour and a half had flown by and the side of my thumbs were almost bleeding.

P.S I play the left hand part quieter than this, don't worry! :P

It's easier than  I thought to play! :D
